The Colorado Division of Real Estate Bimonthly Notification went out earlier this week and it contains information on renewing your appraiser license. Please take a few minutes to read the update to make sure your renewal goes smoothly!

Appraisers of all license levels who renew their credential will be issued a two-year license and must complete at least 28 hours of approved appraiser continuing education during the two-year period preceding expiration of the license. Included in the 28 hours, all appraisers must complete:

– The National USPAP Update course in accordance with Board Rule 7.2.B, AND

– The Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course in accordance with Board Rule 7.2.C. If you are unsure of which version of the Valuation Bias and Fair Housing course that you need to take, please review this Appraiser Licensee Advisory.

If you are a new appraiser licensee in 2026:

– For initial licenses issued on or after July 1, there is no continuing education requirement as a condition of renewal of such initial license that expires December 31 of the year of issuance.

– For initial licenses issued before July 1, you are obligated to complete 14 hours of continuing education as a renewal condition before the initial license expires on December 31 of the year of issuance.

If you require additional information on available the USPAP courses, the Valuation Bias and Fair Housing course, or other elective courses, please visit the Division’s Board-Approved Real Estate Appraiser Education Course List. The Rocky Mountain Appraiser Association (RMAA) is holding a hybrid class on November 13th from 8am-4pm for the 2026-2027 7-Hour USPAP Continuing Education Course.
