There is ample data available from the MLS and other sources for appraisers to use in their analyses. However, understanding the differences between quality data and bad data is critical to the outcome of those analyses. Using that data, from the MLS or the local county export, opens up new opportunities in the tax appeal sector of the industry also. This course will discuss analyzing the data set used to weed out the bad data. It also introduces students to the many opportunities for work in the tax appeal world.

Students will learn:

• How to sanitize the data and discredit sales
• Recognize outliers and work to increase the reliability of the MLS data
• Understand the tax appeal process
• Understand the opportunities in tax appeal work for appraisers
