This 7-hour course explores valuation bias and fair housing laws and regulations relevant to real estate appraisers. Participants will learn historical and contemporary contexts of valuation bias, understand federal fair housing and anti-discrimination laws, identify components and manifestations of valuation bias, and apply practical methods and emerging technologies to mitigate bias.

• Foster critical thinking regarding the influence of appraisal reporting and methodology on valuation fairness.

Beginning January 1, 2026, all credentialed appraisers are required to complete a course that meets the AQB (Appraisal Qualification Board) Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline every two years. The first time a licensee completes the continuing education requirement for this course, the licensee must complete the seven (7) hour course. This course meets the AQB requirement for your license renewal.
This course is approved for 7 hours of appraiser CE in Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming.
