The March CAREA meeting is titled “Lending 101 for Appraisers” and will be presented by Alissa K. Hinriks. Active RMAA members will receive 2 hours continuing education if you attend this class. This class will be broken up into two sections. The first hour is designed to improve appraisers’ knowledge on the concepts of lending during the pre-approval process. It is designed to give a better understanding of the different areas of review to determine what mortgage products the potential borrowers are qualified for and using real world scenarios that market participants are coming across in this current market. The second hour will improve appraiser knowledge in VA eligible home loans and features and common misconceptions. The course is designed to educate those on who is truly eligible for VA home loans, with a general breakdown of the main determining factors. What is a VA eligible property and the details that go into making a home eligible, including most common appraisal “subject to” conditions? Including what lenders are looking at when qualifying VA loans. Also, a better understanding of about closing costs and fees when writing contracts.
